Hastings Homeschool Group Activities

Regular activities span the full range of curriculum areas as well as fun social catch-ups. We try to spread our homeschool group activities and social gatherings around the local area to make it easier for those who need to travel. We generally have at least a couple of homeschool activities each month in both Port Macquarie and Wauchope, as well as frequent gatherings at Kendall and other areas.

The children in the group range from toddlers to senior highschool ages. We have regular homeschool get-togethers for social, sporting, cultural, and educational activities to suit all age groups. Our weekly sporting activity varies through-out the year and has included swimming lessons (squad/safety training for the older kids), multi-sports, tennis, dance, surfing, and AFL.

We also meet regularly in smaller groups that suit the kids' ages and interests for other activities like band, choir, drama, art lessons, story club, teen book club, and messy craft days or show-and-tell for the littlies.

Families get together to plan each year's calendar with additional monthly activities like beach days, water conservation talks, science experiments, theatre sports, BMX bike riding, shows at the Glasshouse, tours of Sea Acres, history days, performance concerts, yearly regional swimming carnival and all sorts of other activities.

We have two camps a year: a week-long beach camp at Hat Head, and a bush-camp elsewhere in the region.

The Mums also have coffee dates, encouragement nights, and evenings out for dinner a few times a year to re-charge the batteries and to support each other (Dads are welcome too!).
